We are looking for a Part Time Compensation & Benefits Specialist to support the administration of employee benefit programs for an industrial organization in Reston, Virginia. This Long-term Contract position will focus on maintaining accurate benefit operations, assisting employees with plan-related questions, and coordinating with internal teams and external providers to keep programs running smoothly. The role offers the opportunity to contribute to compliance-focused benefits processes while helping deliver a positive employee experience.
Responsibilities:
• Administer day-to-day employee benefit programs across health, retirement, life, disability, and related offerings through Workday and partner systems.
• Examine benefits invoices for accuracy, resolve discrepancies, and coordinate with finance and accounts payable to ensure timely processing and proper allocation.
• Support annual enrollment activities by preparing materials, updating elections, and helping organize employee information sessions.
• Partner with third-party administrators and insurance carriers to address enrollment issues, billing concerns, and participant questions.
• Maintain organized and accurate benefits records while protecting sensitive employee information in line with privacy standards.
• Track eligibility for part-time and variable-hour employees to help ensure benefit offers are issued within required timeframes.
• Respond to employee inquiries by explaining benefit options, coverage details, and administrative processes in a clear and thorough manner.
• Contribute to special assignments and related benefits projects as business needs arise.
• At least 3 years of experience in benefits administration or a similar human resources role.
• Practical experience using Workday for benefits-related processes and employee records management.
• Working knowledge of applicable federal and state benefits regulations, including leave and healthcare compliance requirements.
• Strong ability to collaborate with benefit vendors and internal stakeholders to resolve operational issues effectively.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and comfort working with benefits platforms and reporting tools.
• Clear written and verbal communication skills with the ability to explain complex benefits information to employees.
• High attention to detail, sound judgment, and the ability to manage confidential information with discretion.
• Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
