Operations Manager Payroll, Benefits & Total Rewards
Location: Paramus, NJ (Hybrid 4 Days Onsite / 1 Day Remote)
About The Role
STAFFXPERT LLC is seeking an Operations Manager on behalf of our client in Paramus, NJ to oversee the day-to-day administration, processes, and systems supporting payroll, benefits, and total rewards programs. This role is ideal for a highly organized and analytical professional with strong experience in payroll operations, benefits administration, compliance, and HR systems.
The ideal candidate will drive operational excellence, ensure data accuracy and regulatory compliance, and collaborate closely with HR, Finance, HRIS, and external vendors to deliver a seamless employee experience.
Key Responsibilities Payroll Operations
- Partner with Payroll leadership to ensure accurate, timely, and compliant payroll processing for hourly and salaried employees.
- Support and optimize payroll operations, including shift differentials, overtime, and time & attendance systems.
- Ensure compliance with payroll regulations, wage and hour laws, and tax requirements.
- Assist with payroll reconciliations, audits, reporting, and coordination with Finance teams.
- Manage vendor relationships and support payroll system upgrades and process enhancements.
- Collaborate with HRIS teams to improve payroll accuracy, efficiency, and employee experience.
Benefits & Total Rewards Operations
- Support administration of health, welfare, retirement, and leave programs.
- Partner with benefits vendors to ensure service excellence and operational efficiency.
- Enhance employee experience related to enrollment, eligibility audits, and issue resolution.
- Monitor benefits-related metrics, reporting, and operational effectiveness.
- Lead initiatives focused on process improvement, optimization, and operational excellence.
- Coordinate with Compensation and HRIS teams to ensure reporting accuracy and data consistency.
Employee Support & Compliance
- Serve as a subject matter expert for payroll, benefits, and total rewards programs.
- Provide guidance to employees, managers, and HR teams regarding payroll and benefits inquiries.
- Ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, and local regulations.
- Support audits, documentation, and reporting requirements across payroll and benefits operations.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Finance, or a related field.
- 5 7+ years of experience in payroll, benefits, compensation administration, total rewards, or HR operations.
- Hands-on experience with HRIS/payroll platforms such as Dayforce, SAP, Oracle, or Workday.
- Strong understanding of payroll processes, benefits administration, compensation, and compliance requirements.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP, formulas, and reporting.
- Excellent analytical, communication, stakeholder management, and vendor management skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Professional certifications such as CEBS, CPP, CCP, SHRM-CP, or SHRM-SCP.
- Experience supporting global total rewards programs.
- Background in HR technology, process optimization, or systems improvement initiatives.
