Sr. Workday Financials Analyst
Our client, a national multi-site organization, is strengthening the finance functional team inside its Workday Center of Excellence and needs a genuinely senior hands-on analyst. This is a build-and-fix role, not a management seat: you'll spend your days in the tenant configuring, troubleshooting, testing, and delivering across the Financials platform, working within the design standards and priorities set by the Workday Financial Systems Director.
There's a steady ticket volume, an active optimization backlog, and upcoming projects including a systems consolidation and acquisition onboarding so the team needs someone with real breadth across modules, not just depth in one.
Responsibilities Financial Management - Configure and maintain the financial management suite day to day: GL, payables, receivables, fixed assets, projects, expenses, allocations, and banking and treasury
- Build and troubleshoot Accounting Center automation — journal rules, accounting event definitions, and book configuration
- Set up and maintain allocation pools, bases, targets, and rules, working with accounting and FP&A to keep close running smoothly
- Configure banking and treasury: bank account setup, transaction matching, payment processing, and reconciliations
- Maintain projects configuration for capital and facilities work so costs, POs, and expenses land against the right projects
Spend Management - Configure procure-to-pay across indirect and direct tracks: requisitions, purchase orders, change orders, supplier accounts, expenses, and contracts
- Maintain supplier catalogs and punchout connections, and process supplier onboarding setups with procurement and AP
- Work invoice, PO/PR, and AP processing issues to resolution, digging into root cause so the same tickets stop coming back
- Apply updates to spend thresholds, purchasing policies, and approval hierarchies as directed by policy and governance decisions
Planning, Reporting & Data - Build and maintain Adaptive Planning models across financial, workforce, and operational planning, plus close and consolidation
- Turn FP&A requirements into working planning configurations
- Build Workday reports, dashboards, and composite reporting from gathered requirements
- Support the finance BI team with data extraction, field mapping, and data integrity questions feeding downstream SQL-based analytics
Support & Delivery - Work the functional queue: resolve escalated end-user issues, business process errors, and transaction questions across supported modules
- Execute UAT for enhancements and semi-annual Workday releases; document results and flag issues for the Director's sign-off
- Maintain org and hierarchy configuration supporting field operations, and help stand up newly acquired entities in existing structures
- Share knowledge with junior analysts and follow established governance and change control on every change
What We're Looking For - 7+ years in financial systems or senior finance technology roles, with substantial hands-on Workday Financials configuration experience
- Multiple full implementation or optimization cycles across Workday Financial Management and Adaptive Planning
- Fluency in enterprise finance processes: full accounting cycle, procure-to-pay, FP&A, and financial reporting
- Self-sufficient in the tenant: able to take a requirement, assess the options, and deliver a clean configuration without hand-holding
- Clear communicator who is comfortable working directly with finance, accounting, and procurement stakeholders
Certifications - Workday Pro: Financial Management — required and current
- Workday Pro: Platform Administrator — required or attainable within six months of hire
- Workday Pro: Adaptive Planning — preferred
