POSITION SPECIFICS
We are actively seeking a Director of Telehealth Innovation and Information Systems with the vision to help us bring much needed specialty sexual assault forensic exam expertise to emergency departments across the nation through live virtual support.
The Sexual Assault Forensic Examination Telehealth (SAFE-T) System is a novel telehealth program which became incubated in the Ross and Carol Nese College of Nursing in 2016 with funding from the U.S. Department of Justice Office for Victims of Crime.
Over the past eight years, our dedicated interdisciplinary team has built, tested, and implemented a robust telehealth infrastructure that has supported more than 400 live telehealth consultations. Additionally, we have developed our own mobile application, solving unique challenges impacting quality of live telehealth support in the forensic examination setting.
As Director of Telehealth Innovation and Information Systems , you'll lead the technology infrastructure behind a mission-driven program serving both survivors and nurses. This is a critical leadership position within SAFE-T System, responsible for the oversight of telehealth delivery across our expanding network of hospital partners.
This is a full-time, on-campus position located at the Penn State University Park Campus in State College, Pennsylvania.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Technology Leadership
Lead our IT team in delivering reliable 24/7 telehealth services to partnered hospitals; ensure scheduling for on-call response
Ensure HIPAA compliance and data security across all operations
Identify and resolve technical problems related to telehealth systems
Lead development and maintenance of information technology policies, procedures, and training
Manage emergency technology issues and coordinate rapid resolution
Strategic Development & Project Management
Manage complex, groundbreaking IT projects from inception to completion
Develop technology infrastructure to support large-scale expansion to health systems across the United States
Develop strategic plans to enhance telehealth operations and service delivery
Ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget
Team Management & Stakeholder Communication
Lead, mentor, delegate and oversee the work of direct reports, driving operational improvements
Present technology initiatives to diverse stakeholders and secure support
Communicate effectively with hospital leadership, IT teams, and compliance officers
Manage relationships with IT vendors for technology development and implementation
Lead high-level discussions about SAFE-T technology and data security measures
Innovation & Problem Solving
Proactively bring technological solutions to achieve program goals
Follow industry threats, trends, and innovation breakthroughs
Implement effective solutions to improve system performance and user experience
Develop innovative telehealth and technological solutions that support forensic nursing
Travel: Occasional local, state, and national travel will be required to attend or present at conferences, meet with suppliers, meet with prospective hospitals, and launch of SAFE-T System telehealth partnership at new hospital sites. Travel outside of Pennsylvania is estimated at 2-5 times per year for 3-5 days at a time. Same-day travel or single overnight within Pennsylvania will occur as needed (3 or 4 times per year).
Extended and/or weekend hours: Work may fall outside of normal business hours when there are major program deliverables or deadlines due, technical issues that must be urgently addressed, or an event or training that we are hosting falls outside business hours. These occurrences are infrequent.
Ideal Candidate Qualifications:
Proven track record of managing complex IT projects
Excellent knowledge of security threats, telehealth systems, and/or healthcare IT
Exceptional communication skills, including with diverse stakeholders
Demonstrated leadership and team management capabilities
Strategic thinking, planning, and execution - combined with technical expertise
Demonstrated collaborative, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
Experience in healthcare IT or compliance environments
MINIMUM EDUCATION, WORK EXPERIENCE & REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS
Master's Degree
8+ years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience accepted

This position requires the following clearances in addition to applicable background checks: PA State Police Criminal Background Check, PA Child Abuse History Clearance Form, and Federal (FBI) Fingerprint Criminal Background Check. This position requires that you operate a motor vehicle as a part of your job duties. A valid driver’s license and successful completion of a motor vehicle records check will be required in addition to standard background checks.
SALARY & BENEFITS
The salary range for this position, including all possible grades, is $97,100.00 - $145,700.00.
