Compensation$74,800 – $98,000 base salary

Overview
A highly reputable global professional services organization is seeking a Payroll Tax Compliance Analyst to join its payroll team.
This position plays a critical role in ensuring payroll tax compliance across federal, state, and local jurisdictions. This individual will support multi-state payroll tax reporting, reconciliations, and regulatory compliance in a complex, multi-jurisdictional environment.
The ideal candidate brings strong payroll tax expertise, and the ability to interpret evolving payroll tax legislation while partnering with payroll and accounting teams to maintain accurate reporting and compliance.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree highly preferred (Accounting, Business, Tax, or related field)
- Minimum 5 years of payroll experience
- At least 3 years of multi-state payroll tax experience
- Strong knowledge of payroll tax regulations and compliance requirements
- Experience with large payroll systems or HRIS platforms (Workday strongly preferred)
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage sensitive and confidential payroll information
Job Description:
- Analyze multijurisdictional payroll tax data and ensure payroll information is accurately reported to federal, state, and local agencies
- Prepare and process federal and multi-state payroll tax filings, payments, and returns
- Monitor employer and employee payroll tax contributions and perform detailed reconciliations
- Investigate and resolve payroll tax notices from federal and state agencies while coordinating with payroll vendors when needed
- Reconcile payroll tax reports between third-party systems and internal payroll platforms
- Review payroll entries impacting tax withholding accuracy and ensure compliance with reporting requirements
- Partner with payroll leadership and the general ledger team to investigate tax variances and support accurate financial reporting
- Monitor legislative changes affecting payroll taxes and ensure appropriate system updates
- Support audit requests and generate documentation for internal and external reviews
- Assist with payroll system enhancements, integrations, and process improvements
