We are looking for a Payroll Specialist to support a large organization in Chattanooga, Tennessee through accurate and compliant payroll administration. This Long-term Contract position is ideal for someone who can manage payroll operations across multiple states, maintain precise records, and help ensure employees are paid correctly and on schedule. The role also partners with accounting and internal teams to produce payroll documentation and uphold regulatory standards. Workday ERP experience required! *This role requires in-office presence in Chattanooga, Tennessee*
Responsibilities:
• Administer end-to-end payroll processing for a large employee population in multiple states while meeting established payroll deadlines.
• Audit timesheets and attendance records to confirm accuracy, resolve discrepancies, and align pay calculations with company guidelines.
• Apply federal and state payroll rules related to taxation, wage requirements, and reporting to maintain ongoing compliance.
• Update and preserve payroll data such as employee profiles, compensation changes, benefit deductions, and other earnings details.
• Generate and distribute payroll-related documents and reports, including earnings statements, annual wage forms, and tax records.
• Investigate payroll issues promptly and work with employees or managers to correct errors and answer payment-related questions.
• Support accounting activities connected to payroll, including reconciliations, reporting, and other general finance tasks as assigned.
• Utilize Workday ERP and related payroll systems to enter, validate, and manage payroll information efficiently.

• Proven experience handling full-cycle payroll from data review through final processing and reporting.
• Background managing multi-state payroll with strong understanding of varying state requirements.
• Experience processing payroll for large workforces, including environments with more than 500 employees.
• Working knowledge of payroll compliance, including tax withholdings, wage and hour standards, and reporting obligations.
• Proficiency using Workday ERP or a comparable payroll and human resources system.
• Strong attention to detail with the ability to reconcile records and identify inconsistencies quickly.
• Ability to manage sensitive employee information with professionalism and confidentiality.
