ERP Project
Job Description
The Procure-to-Pay (P2P) Pillar Lead is the institutional owner of the Procure-to-Pay workstream of the ERP Forward Program to replace the University’s core administrative systems. This role will work across university's academic and administrative enterprise, be responsible for guiding design decisions, validating ERP functionality, coordinating stakeholder participation, leading testing and readiness activities, and ensuring successful adoption of future-state procurement, sourcing, and payment processes.
Some procurement, sourcing, contracting, and accounts payable functions exist at both the academic campuses and the health system; in those areas, this role will coordinate closely with the Clinical P2P Pillar Lead to ensure a consistent, well-governed approach and to avoid duplicated or conflicting design decisions.
Key Responsibilities
Team & Vendor Leadership: Leads the resources responsible for Procure-to-Pay implementation. Plans for necessary resources within the Procure-to-Pay team and leads/manages related staff as those members come onto the project team. Manages the vendor relationship with the implementation partner, along with vendor and software provider resources dedicated to the modules to ensure all business requirements are identified and implemented.
Business Process Ownership: Represents current-state procurement, sourcing, supplier management, contracting, and accounts payable operations across the academic campuses and system administration. Provides business requirements, policies, procedures, and institutional objectives, and evaluates leading procurement and accounts payable practices to determine how they should be adopted across the University of Missouri System.
Decision Making: Serves as the primary decision facilitator for the Procure-to-Pay functional area. Actively engages stakeholders, including procurement and payables offices, business/financial officers, department stakeholders, and central finance, in decisions related to both system and process design. Reviews recommendations developed by design teams, drives consensus, and escalates strategic decisions, policy changes, and unresolved issues through project governance channels.
Design & Configuration Governance: Participates in design workshops and playback sessions. Reviews and approves proposed future-state business processes for sourcing, purchasing, contracting, and accounts payable. Validates that ERP configuration aligns with institutional policy, delegation of authority, and campus-specific requirements.
Testing & Validation: Develops test plans and leads business participation in unit testing, end-to-end testing, and user acceptance testing for Procure-to-Pay processes. Reviews test results, assists in issue prioritization and resolution, and confirms the solution meets campus business needs before deployment.
Cross-Functional Coordination: Coordinates with other project team members and workstreams (Finance, HCM, IT, Reporting, , Change Management, and others) on intersections in process and technology. Partners with the Clinical P2P Pillar Lead where functions are shared with the health system. Identifies upstream and downstream process impacts and coordinates decisions that affect multiple functional areas or campuses.
Project Leadership & Change: Works with the project manager to lead key project elements. Identifies key stakeholders and plans for their integration into the project. Appropriately manages scope and expectations to available resources and project goals. Identifies communication and change management needs and engages those teams in managing a successful project outcome. Communicates upcoming process changes to impacted stakeholders, supports training, readiness, and adoption activities, and acts as the business champion for new procurement and payment ways of working. Actively communicates and raises issues within project collaboration structures.
As with all positions, involvement with other duties and responsibilities may be expected to support the mission and purpose of the University of Missouri System.
