Job Description Summary:
This is a full-time position, split approximately 60-70% in the field performing guidance on the installation of stormwater controls, repairing/maintaining of the stormwater controls, conducting regular site inspections, and coordinating, and providing oversight to civil subcontractors. The remaining time will be utilized preparing inspections, meetings, and document writing, to ensure that during construction, the Solar Site remains in compliance with all federal, state, and local environmental regulations, including but not limited to, the state specific National Pollutant Discharge Elimination Systems (NPDES) Permit or EPA Construction General Permit, whichever is applicable.

Position Responsibilities and Duties:
Willing to obtain assigned Stormwater Pollution Prevention Certification (minimum 8 hours).
Certified Professional in Erosion and Sediment Control (CPESC) o Certified Erosion, Sediment, and Stormwater Inspector (CESSWI) o Certified Inspector of Sediment and Erosion Control (CISEC) o Qualified Compliance Inspector of Stormwater (QCIS) o EPA Construction General Permit Inspector Training o Other Required State Specific Stormwater Training Course
Perform Stormwater Pollution Prevention (SWPP) Inspections as required by state specific stormwater permit including daily site observations.
Ensure corrective actions are being conducted in the correct time frame per the state specific stormwater permit.
Ensure Best Management Practices (BMPs) are installed correctly per the SWPPP Erosion and Sediment Control Plan specification sheets.
Proactively provide corrective action recommendations in areas where erosion and sediment control concerns are occurring.
Ensure additional environmental compliance regulations/requirements are being fulfilled and complied with on site, such as air quality/dust control, endangered species and habitat protection, and protection of wetlands and other environmentally sensitive areas.
Effectively communicate issues discovered in the field during the inspection to the correct site Superintendent or other designated SOLV Energy Representative and other responsible parties, and the Environmental Compliance Manager.
Research and communicate SWPPP and Environmental Compliance related questions and provide solutions for the Project Manager, Assistant Project Manager, Project Engineer as necessary based on client related questions.
Ensure the SWPPP binder is kept up to date and in compliance as necessary, including:
Updating Erosion & Sediment Control Plan Redlines o Updating BMP Amendment Log and SWPPP Amendment Log as needed. o Ensuring all relevant and required documents are present in SWPPP Binder.
Add supplemental SWPPP documents to SWPPP Binder as necessary.
Help coordinate and manage subcontractors responsible for seeding and BMP implementation and help ensure environmentally sensitive areas are designated and blocked off throughout the site.
Perform Monthly SPCC Inspections and Audits, coordinate spill clean-up activities with onsite or 3rd party companies and provide oversight.
Complete other responsibilities as assigned.
Minimum Skills or Experience Requirements:
Effective communication, documentation, and organizational skills.
Ability to direct and manage crews responsible for BMP installation and maintenance
Ability to attend remote meetings as necessary.
Ability to remain on site daily until the project’s Notice of Termination (NOT) is approved or otherwise instructed.
Civil/Environmental Engineering, Construction Management, Environmental or Stormwater work experience or equivalent educational background desirable.
Experience working with all levels of field staff is desirable.
Ability to read and understand civil plans and specification.
Ability to solve problems and provide multiple solutions as needed.
Experience using Microsoft Office, Outlook, Teams, and ability to learn Workday and other proprietary software.
Work Environment and Physical Demands:
Must be able to tolerate occasional exposure to dust, dirt, pollen, heavy equipment exhausts, and other airborne particulates on construction sites.
Must be able to tolerate occasional exposure to inclement weather and temperatures.
Constant ability to see details at close range and at a distance, hear, and talk, and possess depth perception.
The noise intensity level is medium to high.
Must possess sufficient mobility with or without assistive devices to access all natural features, structures, and improvements on solar sites subject to inspection for compliance with state specific stormwater permitting requirements and SWPPP Erosion and Sediment Control Plans.
Must have sufficient visual acuity with or without corrective lenses to visually inspect construction sites for evidence of soil erosion and sedimentation in discharge water.
Must have sufficient auditory acuity with or without audiological appliances to hear warning sounds signaling movement of vehicles and equipment on construction sites.
Must be able to descend to and ascend from ground level to inspect soil and hydrogeological site features.
Relocation and travel may be required for this position.
