The Business Analyst will lead the modernization and automation of compensation-related risk reporting processes currently built in MS Access and Excel. This role goes beyond documentation requiring the ability to redesign legacy workflows into efficient, scalable, and maintainable solutions using Power BI, Power Automate, Workday Reports, and advanced Excel. The ideal candidate can rethink end-to-end processes, improve reporting outputs, and deliver streamlined solutions in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Process Modernization & Automation
- Assess existing MS Access and Excel-based reporting processes to identify opportunities for automation and efficiency improvements.
- Redesign workflows rather than simply replicating legacy processes (“not a lift-and-shift”).
- Develop modern reporting and automation solutions using Power BI, Power Automate, and advanced Excel.
- Improve reporting outputs to enhance accuracy, usability, and overall user experience.
Business Analysis & Requirements
- Lead end-to-end requirements gathering from discovery through implementation.
- Document business requirements, process flows, use cases, test plans, and training materials.
- Analyze business, client, and compliance needs to ensure solutions meet current and future requirements.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Act as the primary liaison between business stakeholders, subject matter experts, technology teams, QA, and project management.
- Translate business requirements into clear functional specifications for development teams.
- Partner with stakeholders to ensure alignment with risk standards, reporting strategies, and long-term goals.
Solution Development & Support
- Support solution design, including reporting structure, workflows, and backend logic.
- Assist with user acceptance testing, issue resolution, deployment, and knowledge transfer.
- Identify additional opportunities for process improvements within existing reporting frameworks.
Documentation & Knowledge Management
- Maintain comprehensive documentation to support process continuity and future enhancements.
- Ensure clear knowledge transfer for reengineered systems and reporting outputs.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience as a Business Analyst or similar role.
- Strong expertise in MS Access and advanced Excel (data transformation, complex functions).
- Hands-on experience with Power BI (data models, datasets, report design).
- Experience building automated workflows using Power Automate.
- Workday Report Writing experience.
- Proven ability to modernize and improve legacy systems—not just replicate them.
- Strong requirements gathering, process analysis, and documentation skills.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills across technical and business teams.
- Creative problem solver with a passion for improving efficiency and usability.
