HRIS Analyst
The Opportunity
We are seeking a highly analytical and proactive Senior HRIS Analyst with deep Workday expertise to drive continuous improvement, scalability, and innovation across our HR technology ecosystem. This role goes beyond day-to-day system support and plays a key role in translating business and HR strategy into effective Workday solutions.
The Senior HRIS Analyst will partner closely with HR, IT, and business stakeholders to design, implement, and optimize Workday functionality, support enterprise initiatives, and ensure data integrity, compliance, and an exceptional end-user experience. This role requires strong analytical thinking, excellent communication skills, and a solid understanding of HR technology implementation methodologies. This role will serve as a subject matter expert across Workday Core HCM, Learning, and Talent & Performance, supporting both operational excellence and strategic HR initiatives.
System Configuration & Optimization
- Serve as a subject matter expert for Workday HCM, configuring, maintaining, and enhancing system functionality, including business processes, security, calculated fields, and module configurations
- Lead and support Workday enhancements, system upgrades, and new feature implementations in partnership with the HR Technology Lead
- Proactively identify opportunities for automation, process optimization, and system improvements by analyzing current-state processes and future business needs
- Stay current on Workday releases, best practices, and HR technology trends, and assess applicability to the organization
Data Integrity & Compliance
- Ensure high levels of data accuracy and integrity through regular audits, validation checks, and monitoring controls
- Design and support Workday reporting and dashboards, including standard and ad hoc reports, to meet business and HR analytics needs
- Enforce security protocols, role-based access, and data governance standards
- Ensure compliance with internal policies and external regulations (e.g., SOX, GDPR) and support audit requests as needed
Project Management & Strategic Initiatives
- Lead or support end-to-end Workday initiatives, including module implementations, integrations, business process redesigns, and global rollouts
- Partner with HR and business stakeholders to gather requirements, translate needs into system solutions, and manage expectations
- Apply structured implementation methodologies, including requirements documentation, system design, testing, deployment, and post-implementation support
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to anticipate future organizational needs and ensure scalable HCM solutions are in place
Day-to-Day System Administration
- Provide advanced troubleshooting and issue resolution for Workday-related incidents, including root cause analysis and long-term fixes
- Oversee end-to-end employee data lifecycle management (e.g., onboarding, job changes, compensation, talent records), including mass updates, system testing, and scheduled maintenance
- Develop and maintain comprehensive system documentation, process guides, and escalation protocols
- Serve as an escalation point and mentor for junior HRIS team members, as applicable
Required Skills, Experience And Education
- 5+ years of hands-on Workday HRIS experience, including configuration, system administration, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement
- Strong understanding of HR business processes, HR technology, and operating models
- Experience configuring Workday modules such as HCM, Compensation, Talent & Performance, and Security
- Demonstrated experience supporting or leading Workday implementations, enhancements, or large-scale system changes
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to assess complex requirements and design effective solutions
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
- Proven ability to partner with stakeholders, manage competing priorities, and deliver high-quality, customer-focused solutions
- Knowledge of HR compliance and data privacy regulations (e.g., GDPR, SOX)
- Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, evolving environment while maintaining data confidentiality and integrity
Preferred Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems, business, or a related field
- Biotechnology or pharmaceutical industry experience
- Experience supporting or managing a global workforce
- Strong experience with Workday reporting, including creating and maintaining standard and ad hoc reports
