Responsibilities:
The Cross-Team Engineering Specialist is a critical force multiplier within our software engineering function and will act as incident commander during major outages This role blends rapid response capabilities with a strategic lens, ensuring the reliability, resilience, and responsiveness of our in-house digital banking platform. The role will operate at the intersection of engineering, infrastructure, and QA, tackling high-impact challenges, optimizing systems, and minimizing friction across teams. This role directly influences uptime, customer satisfaction, and engineering velocity and works across 5+ engineering teams and interfaces with executive leadership.
The role will lead root cause analysis and systemic remediation of critical production incidents, streamlining system telemetry, and delivering surgical code interventions with architectural foresight in our C#/.NET + Angular stack—all while championing technical excellence, reducing debt, and building long-term platform health.
Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Lead Rapid Escalation & Resolution Efforts: Investigate and resolve high-impact production issues quickly and effectively, collaborating with QA, support, and product teams to restore service, maintain trust, and extract long-term insights.
- Deliver Precision Engineering Fixes: Apply targeted, low-risk code changes in C#/.NET and Angular to resolve issues without introducing technical debt, while preserving system integrity and maintainability.
- Architect Observability Frameworks and Proactive Anomaly Detection System: Continuously assess and improve system observability using tools like App Insights, New Relic, and logs. Tune alerts to reduce noise, identify trends, and detect problems before they impact users.
- Foster Cross-Functional Collaboration: Drive cross-domain technical alignment and systems integration between software engineering, infrastructure, QA, data, and core systems teams. Ensure alignment on technical decisions and create safe, context-aware solutions.
- Own Solutions & Drive Clarity: Operate with high autonomy, taking end-to-end ownership of issues and improvements. Proactively surface decisions, risks, and outcomes to stakeholders with clarity and transparency.
- Apply Systemic & Strategic Thinking: Identify recurring pain points and implement scalable, sustainable solutions. Balance immediate needs with long-term platform health and architectural vision.
- Champion Technical Excellence: Serve as a technical thought leader and mentor across engineering domain, advocate for engineering best practices (e.g., CI/CD, testing, code quality), and guide technical improvements through influence and hands-on contribution.
- Respond Resiliently to Crisis: Thrive under pressure during outages or incidents. Rapidly diagnose root causes, implement fixes, and contribute to post-mortems that strengthen future resilience.
- Lead Modernization Initiatives and Technical Debt Retirement Strategies: Identify areas of fragility or complexity. Lead efforts to simplify, refactor, and modernize systems to boost reliability, performance, and maintainability.
- Communicate Across Audiences: Translate complex technical issues for diverse stakeholders—from engineers to executives—while maintaining a strong, action-oriented problem-solving mindset in a fast-paced environment.
- Participate in on call rotation providing after-hours support.

SKILLS
- Experienced working within regulated environments (financial services, healthcare, government), and appreciate the tradeoffs between agility and compliance
- Fluent in application monitoring tools, log analysis, and error triage (e.g., Azure Monitor, Application Insights, New Relic, Serilog, etc.).
- Expert understanding of software development methodologies and be a subject matter expert in their technology stack
- Experience architecting and developing highly available and scalable applications
- Experience with refactoring legacy application to modernized application
- Experience with development in Linux environment and containerization
- Experience with Node.js or React.js. Experience working Application Performance Monitoring Tools such as New Relic
- Influence platform architecture and long-term engineering strategy
- Provide technical leadership across multiple engineering squads
- Design for scale, performance, and fault tolerance in distributed systems
- Ensure compliance with security and regulatory standards (e.g., SOC 2, PCI-DSS)
- Deep experience with cloud-native architectures (Azure preferred)

- Ability to communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing

This figure serves as the entry point in our salary range, and there is potential for the actual salary to be higher based on a variety of factors, such as your experience, skills, education, and location. We believe in recognizing and rewarding talent, so our compensation packages are thoughtfully designed to reflect the unique qualifications and contributions of each candidate.
