Key Responsibilities
Compensation Strategy
-
Lead the design, implementation, and administration of base salary, incentive, bonus, and executive compensation programs.

Perform job evaluations, market pricing, and benchmarking to maintain internal equity and external market competitiveness.

Oversee annual merit, bonus, and salary planning cycles within Workday.

Develop and maintain compensation structures that promote performance, career growth, and employee retention.
Benefits & Total Rewards

Oversee and promote effective utilization of health, welfare, retirement, and wellness programs.

Lead the management of healthcare plans, including vendor partnerships, plan performance, and employee education initiatives.

Analyze claims data, utilization patterns, and cost trends to guide benefits strategy and plan design decisions.
Training
- Ensure that benefit programs translate into informed decisions, healthier employees, lower costs, and stronger engagement.

Complete training organization wide onsite and virtually at all locations:

Improves utilization of the benefits plan while controlling the cost.

Payroll Leadership
-
Provide both strategic direction and operational oversight for multi-state, multi-entity payroll operations.

Ensure accurate, timely, and compliant payroll processing, including wages, incentives, deductions, and benefits integration.

Lead payroll controls, audits, reconciliations, and tax filing activities.
-
Partner closely with Finance and Accounting on payroll funding, reporting, and general ledger integration.
Workday Ownership & Systems

Serve as the functional owner for Workday, Compensation, Benefits, and Payroll modules.

Lead system configuration, enhancements, testing, and optimization.
-
Partner with IT and external vendors to support Workday implementations, upgrades, and system integrations.

Design and deliver Workday reporting and dashboards to enable data-driven executive decision-making.

Ensure data integrity across HR, payroll, and benefits systems.
Compliance & Governance

Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local regulations (ERISA, ACA, HIPAA, COBRA, FLSA, wage & hour, payroll tax laws).

Manage audits, plan documentation, nondiscrimination testing, and regulatory filings.

Monitor legislative changes affecting compensation, benefits, and payroll and proactively recommend adjustments.
Leadership & Collaboration

Lead, mentor, and develop Compensation, Benefits, and Payroll teams.

Serve as a trusted advisor to executive leadership on total rewards and payroll strategy.

Partner with HR Business Partners to support workforce planning and talent initiatives.
-
Collaborate cross-functionally with Finance, Legal, Operations, and external vendors.
Qualifications
Required
-
Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business Administration, Finance, or related field.
-
10+ years of progressive experience in compensation, benefits, and payroll leadership.
-
Hands-on expertise with Workday, including Compensation, Benefits, and Payroll modules.
-
Strong knowledge of self-funded healthcare plans and cost containment strategies.
-
Deep understanding of multi-state payroll regulations and wage & hour compliance.
-
Advanced analytical, financial modeling, and reporting skills.
-
Proven expertise in administering multiple benefit offerings, including reference-based pricing plans.
-
Willingness to travel 50% of the time.
Preferred

Master’s degree
-
Experience in distribution, or multi-location organizations.
