HR Mango is hiring for an Assistant Director, Benefits on behalf of a client. This is a high-impact leadership opportunity for an experienced benefits professional with deep expertise in Workday, benefits administration, retirement plans, and leave management. The ideal candidate will be a strategic and hands-on leader who can optimize benefit programs, drive process improvements, and serve as a subject matter expert for Workday Benefits and Absence modules.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead administration of health and welfare benefit programs, retirement plans, and leave management programs.
- Manage annual Open Enrollment, employee communications, enrollment processes, and benefit education initiatives.
- Serve as the Workday Benefits and Absence subject matter expert, including life events, enrollments, workflows, troubleshooting, reporting, and system optimization.
- Oversee administration of 401(k), cash balance plans, and other retirement programs.
- Manage employee leave programs and ensure compliance with applicable federal and state regulations.
- Partner with HR, Payroll, Finance, HRIS, and external vendors to improve processes and employee experience.
- Analyze benefits data, prepare reports, and identify opportunities for process improvements.
- Ensure compliance with ERISA, ACA, HIPAA, COBRA, and other applicable regulations.
- Provide leadership, coaching, and development to a team of benefits professionals.
- Support ongoing Workday enhancements and collaborate with HRIS on system improvements.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 5+ years of progressive benefits administration experience.
- Strong hands-on experience with Workday Benefits and/or Absence modules.
- Proven experience managing Open Enrollment and employee benefits programs.
- Extensive knowledge of retirement plans, including 401(k) and cash balance plans.
- Experience administering employee leave programs and related processes.
- Strong understanding of benefits compliance regulations including ERISA, ACA, HIPAA, and COBRA.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Leadership or people management experience.
- Experience partnering with HRIS teams and benefits vendors.
- Healthcare industry experience preferred but not required.
- Experience supporting Workday implementations, enhancements, or optimization initiatives.

Compensation & Benefits
- Base Salary: $130,000 – $140,000
- 10% Annual Bonus
- $900 Annual Cell Phone Allowance
- Monday–Friday Schedule
- Full-time onsite for the first 90 days with a strong possibility of one remote day per week thereafter.
