Job Summary
This is a dual-focus role built for someone who is genuinely excellent at Workday reporting and is ready to grow into a well-rounded people analytics practitioner. You will own the Workday Report Writer function for TAG’s enterprise instance while also contributing to broader analytics work — building dashboards, partnering on workforce metrics, and helping us expand what our data can do.
The Workday side is the anchor of this role. You’ll be the organization’s go-to expert for Report Writer, calculated fields, matrix and composite reports, and RaaS configuration. But you’ll also be expected to stretch: writing SQL for cross-system validation, contributing to Python-based workflows, adapting to Claude Code, and supporting the team’s broader analytics output.
Stakeholders across Legal, Compliance, Brand HR, Compensation & Benefits, and the broader employee population depend on the accuracy of what you produce. This is a high-trust, high-ownership role where validation, proactive communication, and a genuine service orientation are non-negotiable.
Essential Responsibilities
Workday Reporting (Primary Focus)
- Serve as the organization’s subject matter expert for Workday Report Writer — including advanced calculated fields and conditional logic, matrix and composite reports, and RaaS configuration for downstream consumption
- Build and maintain complex custom reports by navigating intricate business object relationships and data source dependencies
- Develop derived metrics and cross-functional calculated fields that support compensation, headcount, attrition, compliance, and field HR use cases
- Triage and manage a concurrent queue of reporting requests — assessing complexity, feasibility, and data availability before committing to timelines
- Troubleshoot reporting issues at the data model level, understanding how Workday configurations, security roles, and business object relationships affect output
- Validate every report output before delivery; errors caught by stakeholders are avoidable and not acceptable
People Analytics (Growth Area)
- Contribute to workforce reporting and metrics including headcount, attrition, tenure, diversity, and compensation analytics
- Build and maintain dashboards and visualizations that communicate workforce trends to HR leadership and business partners
- Use Python to automate repetitive data tasks, support report delivery workflows, and assist with data preparation for downstream analytics
- Write SQL for ad-hoc data extraction, cross-system validation, and supporting analytics pipelines
- Use AI Tools (e.g. Claude Code, Codex, etc.) to support and augment analytics development processes
- Partner with the broader People Analytics team on projects that require combining Workday data with other HR and business data sources
Reporting Governance & Data Quality
- Own the organization and health of TAG’s Workday HCM report library — naming conventions, folder structure, categorization, and access
- Audit existing reports regularly to identify duplicates, outdated outputs, and consolidation opportunities
- Document data lineage, transformation logic, and known nuances in our Workday instance
- Partner with HRIS to align governance standards and ensure all new reports are built and catalogued consistently
- Identify and resolve data discrepancies in partnership with HRIS and downstream data consumers
How We Work
Our team is small, direct, and holds a high bar for accuracy — because the data we produce supports decisions about real people. We work collaboratively with HRIS and HR partners across the organization, and we’re trusted to own our work end-to-end.
- Validation is part of the job. Every output is checked before it leaves. Errors caught by stakeholders are avoidable — we don’t let them happen.
- Proactive communication is the standard. Stakeholders don’t chase us. We keep them informed before they need to ask.
- The report library is a product. A well-organized, consistently named report environment is part of what we deliver — not an afterthought.
- We use AI-assisted development tools to work more efficiently. Comfort with experimentation and new tools fits well with how we operate.
