Job Title: Workday Compensation Product Manager - Job ArchitectureJob Description This role focuses on leading Workday Compensation and Job Architecture initiatives as a highly experienced product manager and subject matter expert. Responsibilities + Lead the design, configuration, and implementation of Workday Core Compensation and Advanced Compensation solutions, with a primary focus on Job Architecture for a global company. + Own and drive Job Architecture reconfiguration efforts, including interpreting existing design documentation, asking clarifying questions, and rerouting the solution as needed to align with business objectives. + Facilitate and lead live design sessions, collaborating closely with stakeholders to translate business requirements into scalable Workday compensation configurations. + Design and optimize compensation structures, including merit cycles, annual bonus programs, one-time payments, and complex union progression scenarios. + Serve as the Workday Compensation and Job Architecture subject matter expert, providing guidance on best practices, governance, and long-term roadmap planning. + Create and maintain custom configurable Workday solutions using tools such as Calculated Fields, Report Writer, Workday Studio, BIRT, and other advanced Workday functions. + Emphasize data integration, analytics, and reporting to enhance visibility into compensation programs and support informed decision-making. + Support and stabilize existing Workday environments, including stepping into ongoing implementations or post-go-live situations to improve performance and reliability. + Lead workstreams and coordinate cross-functional teams, ensuring alignment between HR, compensation, technology, and business stakeholders. + Conduct impact assessments and troubleshoot configuration issues related to Job Architecture, compensation structures, and payment processes. + Document solution designs, configuration decisions, and process flows, ensuring clear knowledge transfer and sustainable support models. + Apply multi-industry consulting experience to tailor Workday compensation solutions that meet diverse regulatory, union, and organizational requirements. + Continuously evaluate Workday capabilities and industry trends to recommend enhancements and new features that improve operational excellence and mission readiness. Essential Skills + Workday-certified in HCM, Core Compensation, and Advanced Compensation. + Minimum of 8-10 years of experience leading the design and configuration/implementation of Workday Core Compensation and Advanced Compensation projects. + At least 8+ years of hands-on Workday compensation experience, including global Job Architecture work at SME (subject matter expert) level. + Proven experience supporting 10+ Workday implementations or engaging to stabilize existing Workday environments. + Demonstrated expertise in Job Architecture, including reconfiguration for global organizations and complex union progressions. + Strong background in Workday HCM, Compensation Structures, Merit and Bonus Cycles, and One-Time Payments. + Hands-on configuration experience across Workday compensation modules, including live design and solutioning. + Deep experience creating custom Workday solutions using Calculated Fields, Report Writer, Workday Studio, and BIRT. + Emphasis on data integration, analytics, and reporting to improve compensation transparency and decision-making. + Multi-industry consulting experience spanning at least 4-5 different industries. + Ability to operate as a collaborative, strategic thinker with strong workstream leadership capabilities. Additional Skills & Qualifications + Experience functioning as both a Workday Compensation Product Manager and a Workday Job Architecture SME. + background in designing and optimizing annual bonus and merit processes within Workday. + Experience working with complex union progression rules and translating them into Workday configurations. + Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to analyze existing design documentation and propose improved solutions. + Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, including leading live design sessions and workshops. + Consulting experience that includes working with government and commercial clients on complex, mission-critical programs. + Ability to balance strategic thinking with hands-on configuration work in a fast-paced, remote environment. Work Environment This is a fully remote role aligned to EST time zone hours, offering flexibility while maintaining close collaboration with project teams. You will work full-time at approximately 40 hours per week for at least the first month, then transition to half-time based on workload and project needs. The Job Architecture design has been initially developed on paper by a consulting partner, and you will work from this documentation, asking targeted questions and rerouting the design as necessary to achieve an optimal Workday configuration. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Leesburg, VA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $110.00 - $135.00/hr.
