We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Entry-Level Accounting Specialist to join our dynamic finance team. Duties
- Assist with accounts payable and accounts receivable management, ensuring timely processing of invoices and payments
- Perform data entry and account analysis using accounting software such as QuickBooks, Xero, or Sage to maintain accurate financial records
- Support general ledger accounting activities, including journal entries, account reconciliation, and balance sheet reconciliation
- Help prepare financial reports and assist with month-end closing procedures in accordance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles)
- Contribute to payroll management tasks using systems like ADP, UltiPro, or Workday, including payroll data entry and validation
- Conduct detailed account analysis to identify discrepancies or errors and collaborate with senior staff to resolve issues
- Support compliance efforts related to SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley Act) controls and governmental accounting requirements
Skills
- Strong understanding of financial concepts such as debits & credits, double-entry bookkeeping, and journal entries
- Proficiency in Excel data analysis, including pivot tables, formulas, and data validation techniques
- Experience with various accounting software systems like QuickBooks, Xero, Sage, PeopleSoft, Ceridian, or similar platforms
- Knowledge of payroll systems such as ADP or Kronos for payroll management tasks
- Familiarity with accounting standards including GAAP and experience with governmental or non-profit accounting is a plus
- Excellent numeracy skills coupled with attention to detail for accurate data entry and account reconciliation
- Ability to analyze financial data effectively and communicate findings clearly within a team environment
