Position Overview
The Senior Compensation Consultant will lead the design, administration, and continuous improvement of compensation programs for a well-established, employee-focused organization. This role leverages market data, internal equity analysis, and business insights to deliver competitive, equitable, and sustainable pay practices that support talent strategy and long-term business objectives. The position partners closely with HR leadership, Finance, and business leaders to develop compensation solutions that attract, retain, and reward top talent.
Worksite Location: Hybrid opportunity in the Twin Cities metro area.
- NOT open to relocation - must be local to the Twin Cities, MN area to be considered.
Salary: $110,000 – $125,000

Roles & Responsibilities
- Lead the design, administration, and continuous improvement of the organization's compensation philosophy, salary structures, job architecture, and related programs to support market competitiveness and internal equity
- Partner with HR Business Partners and business leaders to evaluate new and existing positions, conduct market benchmarking, recommend job levels and pay grades, and provide compensation guidance
- Lead the annual market review process, including salary survey participation, market analysis, competitive positioning assessments, and salary structure recommendations
- Develop and oversee a consistent approach to internal equity analysis, identify areas of concern, recommend corrective actions, and educate leaders on equitable pay practices
- Administer companywide incentive compensation programs, including short-term and long-term incentive plans, supporting program design, modeling, communication, and governance
- Lead the annual merit review cycle from planning through execution, including system configuration, communications, training, approvals, data validation, employee communications, and payroll coordination
- Partner with senior HR leadership to support executive compensation programs, including base salary, incentive compensation, and related analyses and recommendations
- Configure, maintain, and continuously improve compensation-related processes, reporting, and controls within Workday Advanced Compensation
- Collaborate with HR leadership and Finance on annual budget planning, workforce cost projections, salary increase modeling, and incentive forecasting
- Prepare compensation analyses, dashboards, models, and executive-ready presentations that translate complex data into actionable recommendations
- Maintain compensation policies, procedures, documentation, and employee-facing communications, including Total Rewards communications and statements
- Monitor compensation-related laws and regulations and support compliance efforts, audits, and implementation of regulatory changes
- Build trusted relationships across the organization and provide practical, consultative compensation expertise to leaders and stakeholders
Required Skills & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business, Finance, or a related field; equivalent relevant experience may be considered
- 5+ years of progressive compensation experience, including base pay, incentive compensation, market pricing, and job evaluation
- Experience administering compensation programs within Workday, including Workday Advanced Compensation
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data, develop recommendations, and communicate findings to business leaders and executives
- Experience managing large-scale annual compensation processes and partnering cross-functionally with HR, Finance, Payroll, and business leaders
- High attention to detail, accuracy, confidentiality, and follow-through
- Ability to balance analytical rigor with a consultative and approachable style
- Strong written, verbal, presentation, and executive communication skills
- Proven ability to influence without direct authority and build credibility with a broad range of stakeholders
- Strong project management, prioritization, organizational, and time management skills
- Collaborative, responsive, and solutions-oriented mindset with a strong customer focus
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Teams
- Experience creating and interpreting compensation models, dashboards, reports, and data visualizations
Preferred Skills & Experience
- Certified Compensation Professional (CCP) designation
- Experience supporting executive compensation and long-term incentive programs
- Experience with compensation survey platforms, job architecture, pay equity analysis, and compensation analytics
- Experience working in multi-state organizations
