Job Description
The Workday Financial Management Solution Architect will shape, nurture and convert new business pursuits by translating finance transformation priorities into differentiated, scalable and commercially viable Workday solutions. The role combines deep Workday Financial Management expertise with consultative selling, solution storytelling, estimation and executive engagement. The architect will develop compelling presentations, demonstrations, proposals and roadmaps that clearly articulate business value, target operating model, delivery approach, innovation potential and measurable outcomes.
Roles & Responsibilities
- Pursuit Development and Presales Leadership
- Identify, qualify and nurture Workday Financial Management opportunities in collaboration with account teams, sales leaders, Workday alliance stakeholders and industry SMEs.
- Lead discovery workshops to understand finance strategy, current-state processes, ERP landscape, maturity, transformation ambition, decision criteria and competitive context.
- Define pursuit strategy, solution themes, win themes, differentiators, proof points and value hypotheses for RFIs, RFPs, proactive proposals and oral presentations.
- Orchestrate cross-functional pursuit teams across finance, technology, data, integrations, change and delivery to ensure timely, high-quality submissions.
- Participate in client meetings, executive briefings, solution defenses, workshops and negotiations as the senior Workday Financial Management solution authority.
- Workday Finance Solution Architecture
- Own the end-to-end functional solution across Workday Financial Management, including Accounting Center, Record to Report, Procure to Pay, Customer Accounts, Revenue, Expenses, Assets, Cash Management, Projects, Grants and Planning, as applicable.
- Design integrated solution architectures spanning financial business processes, organizations and worktags, accounting, security, reporting, analytics, integrations, data conversion, testing, deployment and post-production support.
- Assess deployment options, global template and localization requirements, statutory and management reporting, tax, banking, payment, procurement and coexistence needs across the enterprise landscape.
- Ensure solutions are scalable, auditable and supportable, and aligned with Workday leading practices, client controls, regulatory expectations and delivery governance.
- Embed responsible automation, analytics and AI opportunities, including Workday AI capabilities and complementary enterprise solutions, where they create credible finance value.
- Executive Presentations and Solution Storytelling
- Develop visually compelling, executive-ready presentations that connect the client challenge, finance transformation vision, target operating model, solution architecture, delivery roadmap and business case.
- Tailor messaging for CFOs, controllers, finance and procurement leaders, CIOs, enterprise architects, audit, tax, treasury and delivery stakeholders.
- Create solution demonstrations, whiteboarding narratives, case studies, capability maps, process heatmaps and finance transformation roadmaps.
- Present complex finance, accounting and technical concepts in concise, outcome-oriented language while responding confidently to client questions and objections.
- Estimation, Commercials and Delivery Shaping
- Develop scope assumptions, work breakdown structures, implementation timelines, effort estimates, team models, deliverables, dependencies and risk provisions.
- Collaborate with commercial and finance teams on pricing models, productivity assumptions, margin considerations and contractual inputs.
- Conduct solution reviews and architecture assurance to verify completeness, feasibility, controls, consistency and traceability to requirements.
- Enable a disciplined transition from presales to delivery through documented assumptions, decisions, risks, commitments, accounting design considerations and success measures.
- Practice Development and Thought Leadership
- Create and maintain reusable proposal content, reference architectures, estimation models, demo scenarios, industry finance solutions and pursuit playbooks.
- Monitor Workday product evolution, finance and ERP trends, competitor positioning and emerging technologies to strengthen solution relevance.
- Mentor solution consultants and functional leads, conduct knowledge sessions and raise the quality of finance solutioning across the practice.
- Represent the organization in client forums, webinars, internal communities and alliance events, as appropriate
Must Have Technical/Functional Skills
- 12+ years of experience in enterprise finance, ERP consulting, solution architecture, implementation or transformation, including significant hands-on Workday Financial Management experience.
- Proven success leading Workday Financial Management presales, large pursuits, RFP responses, solution workshops, executive presentations and oral defenses.
- Deep functional understanding of Workday Financial Management and multiple related areas, with the ability to design cohesive cross-functional finance solutions.
- Experience shaping complex global or multi-entity programs, including scope, chart of accounts and worktags, roadmap, governance, integrations, data, security, controls, testing and deployment.
- Strong understanding of finance operating models, accounting principles, implementation methodologies, Agile delivery, close and consolidation, reporting, and AMS / production support.
- Demonstrated ability to develop credible estimates, staffing models, assumptions, risks and commercial inputs.
- Excellent presentation, facilitation, writing, negotiation and stakeholder-management skills, with confid ence engaging CFO-level and senior technology executives.

Salary Range: $140,000-$150,000 a year
