About the Role:
As we experience exciting growth across multiple states following recent acquisitions, our primary operational hub in Houston is scaling rapidly. We are looking for a hands-on, collaborative Senior Accountant to join our team, strengthen our core accounting processes, and help guide a growing department.
Key Responsibilities:
- Month-End & Financial Reporting: Own and execute a heavy month-end close process, including balance sheet reconciliations, journal entries, and financial statement preparation.
- Technical Accounting Foundation: Ensure all business transactions are reported accurately and in accordance with GAAP.
- Process Improvement & Mentorship: Partner with team members in Houston, serving as a trusted guide and mentor to support staff who are building out their accounting knowledge. Help identify and implement process improvements and streamline workflows.
- Cross-Functional Support: Assist in restructuring team workflows—including supporting the transition of team members from billing functions into FP&A.
- Systems Utilization: Leverage Workday for daily accounting operations, reporting, and data management.
- Audit & Compliance: Assist with annual audit processes, financial statement drafting, and variance analyses.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Experience: 3-5+ years of solid professional accounting experience.
- Industry Preference: Background or familiarity within a logistics or supply chain operating environment is a strong plus.
- Systems Knowledge: Prior hands-on experience with Workday is highly preferred.
- Technical Skills: Strong foundational knowledge of accounting principles, advanced balance sheet management, and rigorous month-end close experience.
- Soft Skills: Exceptional interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills. A patient, collaborative approach with a passion for mentoring and supporting peers who are newer to the accounting field.
