Job Title: Vertex O Series Tax Consultant

Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Vertex O Series Tax Consultant to support the implementation, configuration, and maintenance of the Vertex O Series tax automation platform. This role is critical in ensuring accurate tax calculation, compliance, and reporting across complex ERP ecosystems. The consultant will collaborate with cross-functional teams to design, deploy, and optimize the Vertex O Series solution to meet business-specific tax requirements, including US sales & use tax, VAT, and GST.
Key Responsibilities:
- Implementation & Integration: Lead the deployment and seamless integration of Vertex O Series with ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, Workday, Coupa, and CRM platforms.
- Configuration: Customize tax rules, rates, jurisdictional logic, and exemption handling to match business and regulatory requirements.
- Customization: Develop and maintain custom taxability drivers, pre/post-tax assist logic, and address complex tax scenarios across different industries.
- Tax Rules & Content Management: Apply monthly Vertex content updates, validate rule sets, and ensure current tax rules are reflected in the system.
- Exemption Certificate Management: Implement and manage customer and vendor exemption certificates within Vertex to reduce tax exposure and ensure audit compliance.
- Reporting & Analytics: Build and maintain compliance and liability reports using Vertex’s reporting tools to support internal audits and governance.
- Technical Support & Troubleshooting: Resolve tax calculation errors, integration discrepancies, and provide expert-level support for Vertex-related issues.
- System Maintenance & Upgrades: Manage version upgrades, patch deployments, and routine system health checks.
- Training & Documentation: Educate internal teams on Vertex functionality, configuration practices, and system workflows.
- Collaboration: Partner with Finance, Accounting, Legal, and IT to ensure tax compliance and alignment with corporate business processes.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Proven experience with Vertex O Series implementation and support.
- Strong understanding of indirect tax concepts (Sales & Use Tax, VAT, GST); familiarity with Canadian tax rules is a plus.
- Hands-on experience integrating tax solutions with ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, Workday, etc.).
- Working knowledge of Coupa (P2P) and CRM platforms as they relate to tax calculation workflows.
- Expertise in taxability rules, material group logic, and custom tax driver development.
- Ability to perform monthly content updates, tax rule testing, and system validation.
- Solid data management and troubleshooting skills for tax discrepancies and configuration errors.
- Proficiency in reporting and analytics tools within Vertex.
- Strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset to work with internal stakeholders and external vendors.
- Highly analytical, detail-oriented, and customer-focused with a passion for solving complex tax challenges.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Vertex O Series Certification is strongly preferred.
- Experience with Onesource, Avalara, or similar tax engines is a plus.
- Familiarity with pre/post-tax assist customization and multi-jurisdictional tax compliance requirements.
- Experience working with global tax structures and digital tax compliance initiatives.

Pay: $62,532.00 - $68,815.00 per year
