Job description:
The Workday Developer is responsible for designing, configuring, and enhancing the Workday HCM platform (covering HRIS, Payroll, and Benefits) to support the organization’s HR processes within the insurance domain.
Key Responsibilities
· Configure and Develop Workday HCM – Configure and maintain Workday HCM modules (Core HR, Payroll, Benefits) to support HR business processes and policy requirements. This includes tailoring Workday functionalities to meet the specific needs of an insurance workforce (e.g. handling commission-based pay structures and complex benefits plans) while ensuring data accuracy and integrity.
· Integrations and Workday Extensions – Design, build, and maintain Workday integrations and workflows using Workday Studio, Enterprise Interface Builder (EIB), and Core Connectors. Ensure that Workday seamlessly exchanges data with internal systems and third-party providers (such as benefits carriers or payroll tax systems), enabling end-to-end HRIS functionality.
· Data Conversion & Reporting – Support data migration and conversion efforts into Workday for HR data, and develop custom reports or dashboards to meet HR analytics and reporting needs.
· Security & Compliance Configuration – Manage Workday security roles and permissions to protect sensitive HR data
· Troubleshooting & Support – Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to Workday configurations, integrations, and workflows in a timely manner. Provide ongoing support to HR users for Workday HCM, especially during payroll runs or benefits enrollment periods, ensuring minimal disruption to operations.
· System Upgrades & Improvements – Support regular Workday updates, patches, and new feature implementations. Continuously identify opportunities for process improvement in the Workday system (for example, automating manual HR tasks or enhancing self-service features) and lead the implementation of these enhancements in alignment with Workday’s release schedule.
Required Skills & Qualifications
· Workday HCM Experience: 5–8 years of hands-on experience in Workday HCM development or implementation roles. This should include configuring Workday modules and building integrations in a real-world environment.
· Technical Proficiency in Workday: Strong expertise in developing Workday integrations and custom reports. Ability to design end-to-end solutions that connect Workday with other enterprise systems (such as payroll, benefits, or finance applications) and to create reports for HR analytics.
· Workday Tools & Technologies: Experience with Workday Studio, EIB, and Workday web services for integrations. Familiarity with related technologies and data formats (XML/XSLT, REST/SOAP APIs) and tools for testing or troubleshooting integrations (e.g., SoapUI) is highly beneficial.
· Certification: Workday HCM certification (or relevant Workday module certification) is strongly preferred, as it demonstrates validated expertise in the platform.
· Analytical & Problem-Solving Skills
Experience
· Insurance Domain Knowledge: Prior experience in the Insurance or Financial Services industry, especially supporting HR, payroll, or benefits systems in that context.
· Large-Scale Implementation Exposure: Experience contributing to or leading large-scale Workday implementations or upgrades (e.g., multi-country rollouts or enterprise-wide Workday HCM adoption) is a plus.
· Compliance and Security Awareness: Knowledge of data privacy, security, and regulatory requirements related to HR data and processes.
