Overview
The HR Systems Manager is a hands-on Workday authority responsible for the configuration, management, and optimization of WORLDPAC’s HR technology ecosystem, with a primary focus on Workday Payroll, Time Tracking, and Absence modules. This role serves as the organization’s principal expert and point of contact for all Workday Payroll and Time/Attendance matters, while also leading and developing the HR Systems team (including the Senior HR Systems Analyst). The ideal candidate will possess deep, hands-on technical expertise in Workday Payroll, Absence, and Time Tracking, experience with iCIMS (or other ATS integrations), and a proven ability to deliver system implementations, upgrades, and integrations.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic & Hands-On System Ownership
- Serve as the principal owner, subject matter expert, and primary hands-on configurator for Workday Payroll, Time Tracking, and Absence modules, including retro processing, accruals, eligibility rules, and complex business processes.
- Act as the primary point of contact for all Workday Payroll, Time, and Attendance configuration, troubleshooting, and escalations.
- Lead and develop the HR Systems team, including direct supervision of the Senior HR Systems Analyst, modeling best practices as a “player-coach.”
- Develop and execute a multi-year HR systems roadmap aligned with organizational goals and HR strategy.
- Oversee system governance, security, and compliance, ensuring appropriate access controls and audit processes.
System Optimization & Project Management
- Personally configure and optimize Workday Payroll, Time Tracking, Absence, and related modules to support business requirements.
- Lead and participate in new module implementations, integrations (e.g., iCIMS, payroll, benefits providers, background check providers, talent assessment tools), and system upgrades.
- Manage vendor relationships and coordinate with external consultants for major projects.
- Oversee the design and deployment of Workday reports, dashboards, and analytics for HR and business leaders.
- Evaluate, select, and implement new HR technologies (including AI tools) as core components of the HR systems platform.
Process Improvement & Stakeholder Engagement
- Partner with HR, IT, Finance and other business leaders to identify opportunities for process automation, data quality improvement, and system enhancements.
- Lead cross-functional teams in requirements gathering, solution design, testing, and change management for HR technology initiatives.
- Ensure delivery of end-user training, documentation, and support for HR systems.
- Demonstrate success in communicating technical requirements and solutions clearly to non-technical stakeholders, and coach team members to do the same.
Data Integrity & Compliance
- Oversee regular audits to ensure data accuracy, privacy, and compliance with company policies and legal regulations.
- Stay current on Workday releases, industry trends, and best practices; recommend adoption of new features and technologies.
Troubleshooting & Support
- Serve as the escalation point and hands-on resolver for complex system issues, collaborating with internal stakeholders and external vendors as needed.
- Ensure timely resolution of HR systems-related tickets and requests.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field required; Master’s degree preferred.
- 7+ years of progressive experience in HR systems management, with at least 5 years of hands-on Workday HCM experience, including expert-level configuration of Payroll, Absence, and Time Tracking modules (e.g., retro processing, accruals, eligibility rules).
- Demonstrated experience leading HRIS teams and managing direct reports in a “player-coach” capacity.
- Experience with Workday Recruiting, iCIMS, and other HR technologies strongly preferred.
- Proven track record of leading large-scale HR system implementations, upgrades, and process improvement initiatives.
- Demonstrated success in communicating technical requirements and solutions to non-technical stakeholders, and coaching others to do the same.
