The
Instructional Designer & Facilitator – Workday HCM plays a critical role in the successful implementation and adoption of the Workday Human Capital Management (HCM) platform, including Learning. This position partners with Human Resources, Learning & Development (L&D), Information Technology, and departmental stakeholders to design, develop, and deliver high-impact learning solutions that support system readiness, change adoption, and long-term capability building.
This role supports an enterprise-wide Workday implementation spanning HR/HRIS, Payroll, Benefits, and Learning, with collaboration and learning touchpoints related to Workday Financial Management. The position combines instructional design, facilitation, and learning technology expertise to translate complex system functionality and business processes into engaging, accessible learning experiences that build confidence and drive adoption across the organization.
What Would You Do?
Learning and Development
- Create and sustain training programs tailored for various learner groups, incorporating adult learning principles to enhance the overall learning experience.
- Conduct dynamic in-person and virtual training sessions that utilize learner-centered design principles and adult learning theories to maximize engagement and retention.
- Elevate the learner experience through innovative facilitation techniques that are scalable across the organization, ensuring integration of adult learning principles.
Instructional Design
- Design and develop instructor-led, virtual, and self-paced learning solutions aligned with adult learning principles and organizational standards.
- Create implementation-focused learning assets, including eLearning modules, job aids, quick reference guides, videos, and facilitator guides.
- Translate Workday HCM functionality and HR business processes (HR/HRIS, Payroll, Benefits, and Learning) into clear, user-friendly learning content.
- Ensure learning solutions are scalable, accessible, and aligned with enterprise change management strategies.
- Design measurement and evaluation tools to assess learner understanding and demonstrate return on investment (ROI).
- Create clear, measurable learning objectives that align with business goals and learner needs.
Facilitation and Learning Delivery
- Facilitate instructor-led and virtual training sessions for employees, leaders, and system administrators.
- Adapt facilitation approaches for diverse audiences, including frontline employees, supervisors, and executive leaders.
- Support train-the-trainer efforts to build internal facilitation and support capacity.
- Gather learner feedback and continuously improve learning design and delivery.
Workday Platform Enablement
- Support implementation and deployment of learning content within Workday Learning.
- Partner with HRIS, IT, Finance, and implementation vendors to align learning strategies with system design, testing, and rollout phases.
- Participate in user acceptance testing (UAT) from a learning and user-experience perspective.
- Support post-launch optimization, content updates, and learning governance.
Stakeholder Partnership & Change Support
- Collaborate with HR Business Partners, department leaders, and subject matter experts to assess learning needs.
- Contribute to change management and communication efforts related to the Workday implementation.
- Serve as a learning consultant, advising stakeholders on effective learning strategies during system transitions.
- Track learning participation and effectiveness to support reporting and continuous improvement.
What Do You Need To Have?
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in instructional design and facilitation, including analysis, curriculum design, and project management. A working knowledge of learning management systems and learning experience systems is essential.
- Proven experience in designing and delivering training solutions using a blended methodology approach, with a focus on instructional design and facilitation.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively to accomplish assignments with minimal supervision.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, Articulate Storyline, Adobe Suite, and/or other e-learning software and technologies, as well as learning management and learning experience systems.
- Comfortable with new technology and able to quickly learn and use new software applications, including those related to learning metrics and analysis.
- Experience integrating AI tools and technologies to enhance learning experiences and improve instructional design processes.
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication abilities.
- Strong problem-solving skills to identify challenges and develop practical solutions in instructional design and learning development.
Highly Desirable
- Experience supporting enterprise system implementations, particularly Workday HCM and/or Workday Learning.
- Familiarity with learning platforms, LMS administration, or HR technology ecosystems.
- Experience working in large, complex, or public-sector organizations.
- Knowledge of change management principles and adoption strategies.
- Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams and external vendors.
Work Environment & Additional Information
- This position follows a hybrid work model, requiring on-site work a minimum of three (3) days per week in alignment with departmental guidelines.
- This is a term-limited position approved for three years, with the potential for extension based on project needs and funding.
