W2 Contract, 8-9 Months
This position is remote. Candidates must be based in Eastern Time Zone (EST) and must be comfortable, from time-to-time, working early hours to partner with European counterparts.
Overview & Responsibilities
Work with a leading global technology company in a critical, high-impact contract role focused on stabilizing and optimizing their Benefits and Leave Administration systems. As the Benefits and Leave Manager, you will be the driving force behind fixing existing Workday configuration errors and integration issues, primarily focusing on US leave management. This is a hands-on technical and operational role where you will analyze policies, troubleshoot system gaps, and implement compliant, efficient solutions in partnership with HRIS, Payroll, and external vendors. Lead the effort to identify, propose, and implement technical solutions for existing errors and gaps in Workday leave setups and integrations with vendors (e.g., Lincoln Financial).
Utilize hands-on Workday configuration experience to correctly set up leaves in the system, ensuring alignment with internal policies and local US legislation.
Read internal leave policies (currently under review), check Workday configuration, identify necessary changes/modifications, and partner with the HRIS team to execute fixes.
Cooperate with HRIS, Payroll, and Workday stakeholders to ensure proper system setup and configuration for leave administration.
Engage with leave and TPA vendors to optimize operations, processes, management effectiveness, and troubleshoot integration issues.
Support global configuration projects, including leave configuration for smaller AMEA countries.
Serve as an escalation point for complex leave management issues.
Maintain accurate tracking and reporting of key leave metrics and trends.
Be flexible for infrequent early morning or late evening meetings to accommodate the global team (EMEA/AMEA).
Required Qualifications
Firm requirement of hands-on experience with Workday configurations, with a strong understanding of its capabilities (Workday certification is not required).
Strong experience in Leave Administration processes and management, with a primary focus on the US market.
Proven ability to cooperate and partner with functions like HRIS, Payroll, and Workday stakeholders for proper system setup.
Knowledge of US statutory leave/benefits requirements and global government regulations (including EEOC, ADA, HIPAA, GDPR).
Experience managing and engaging with external vendors providing administration of leave, disability, and accommodations.
Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business, or a related field OR equivalent practical knowledge.
Flexibility for meetings outside of standard 8-5 working hours to accommodate a global team.
Preferred Qualifications
Prior experience setting up new leave administration processes and Workday configurations from scratch.
Experience in the broader benefits area to provide context for the role.
Experience in high-tech or IT companies.
Ability to take a creative approach to problem-solving and process design.
