This role will partner with diverse organizations across Nordstrom to develop strategies and workforce plans that inform business decisions by having the people needed in the right place, with the right skills, at the right time. This is accomplished through extensive knowledge of HR systems and structure, being a super-user/owner/business admin of planning, analytical and data visualization tools. This individual’s ability to collaborate within HR and across internal functional groups using data driven decision making is critical to success in the role.
A day in the life…
- Partner with key stakeholders within the Workforce Management team and cross-functionally within HR, Finance, Store/Retail Operations and IT on KPI and data delivery/visualization needs
- Participate in various workstreams to provide a foundation in advanced application of data intelligence, processes and tools
- Extract relevant data from source databases to outline key trends around demand planning, staffing, and scheduling
- Utilize data visualization to bring data to life and tell a compelling story built around actionable insights and support the communication of solutions to stakeholders
- Evolve the data analytics and reporting function by automating many of the time intensive (but largely static) data pulls and dashboards/visualizations being performed today, while incorporating new ideas and initiatives
- Build and maintain self-service reporting and scenario planning tools to place the intelligence of HR workforce planning in store operations’ hands
You own this if you have…
- Bachelor’s degree in business intelligence, statistics/data analytics, Management Information Systems, Industrial Engineering, Engineering Tech, or other “STEM” field
- Professional certifications in Data Analytics, SQL, BigQuery, Looker Studio, Workday Adaptive Planning, or similar
- 5+ years experience performing relevant work, especially in reporting, analytics, big data query, data visualization, or core workforce management principles
- Knowledge and/or past application of forecasting evaluation, including deviation/error analysis, statistical controls, and time-series comparisons
- Data mining skills, including ability to select and join disparate, complex data sets
- Hands-on experience with data visualization tools (ideally Looker and/or Workday), including the ability to develop dashboards from scratch
- General understanding of Human Resources systems and employee data architecture, with a preference to Workday HCM/Scheduling/prism/Adaptive Planning
- Prior systems user of MS Excel (Power Query/BI), Google Cloud Platform, and Workday
- Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to collaborate with cross-functional partners
