Organizational Design & Operating Model Consultant – Enterprise Applications & HR Transformation
Company Overview
Our client is a large global organization undergoing enterprise-wide transformation following substantial growth through mergers and acquisitions. As part of a broader modernization effort, the company is standardizing core ERP platforms, streamlining business processes, and evolving toward a more product-oriented operating structure across Enterprise Applications and HR Transformation.
To support this initiative, the organization is seeking an experienced Organizational Design & Operating Model Consultant to help define and implement a scalable operating model aligned to long-term transformation objectives.
Position Overview
This consultant will play a key role in shaping and executing organizational and operating model transformation efforts across Enterprise Applications and HR Transformation. The focus of the engagement includes organizational redesign, governance alignment, delivery model optimization, and operational modernization.
The individual will work closely with senior leaders across Technology, HR, Finance, Shared Services, and the Transformation Office to establish a product-oriented operating model that improves alignment between business capabilities, technology delivery, and enterprise strategy.
The ideal background includes leading operating model and organizational transformation initiatives within large, complex enterprises, particularly those navigating ERP modernization, post-acquisition integration, and large-scale digital transformation.
Key Responsibilities
Operating Model & Transformation Strategy
• Lead assessment and design activities related to a product-oriented operating model across Enterprise Applications and HR Transformation
• Define future-state organizational structures aligned to product ownership, platform governance, and value-stream delivery
• Develop scalable operating frameworks supporting ERP modernization, application rationalization, and shared services optimization
• Establish ownership and accountability models across product management, engineering, architecture, support, governance, and delivery functions
• Create governance structures, RACI frameworks, escalation paths, and decision-making processes across cross-functional teams
Organizational Design
• Assess current organizational structures, spans and layers, role alignment, and operational inefficiencies tied to legacy structures and acquisitions
• Design future-state organizational capabilities aligned to enterprise priorities and transformation roadmaps
• Define role taxonomy, competency frameworks, leadership alignment strategies, and workforce transition considerations
• Support organizational readiness and change impact planning efforts
Enterprise Applications & HR Alignment
• Partner with HR Transformation and Enterprise Applications leadership to align people, process, and technology strategies
• Support alignment of ERP, HCM, and enterprise platform teams within a product-oriented delivery model
• Help define sustainable support and operational models across ERP, HRIS/HCM, finance, procurement, and shared service environments
• Assist with integration planning across acquired entities and legacy operating models
Executive Engagement & Stakeholder Alignment
• Act as a strategic advisor to executive leadership and transformation stakeholders
• Facilitate workshops and working sessions focused on governance, organizational alignment, and operating model design
• Drive alignment across highly matrixed business and technology organizations
• Present recommendations, transformation roadmaps, and operating model strategies to leadership and governance committees
Transformation Execution
• Develop phased implementation plans and transition strategies
• Define KPIs, maturity models, organizational effectiveness metrics, and success measures
• Partner with PMO and change management teams to operationalize future-state structures and processes
• Identify organizational risks, transformation dependencies, and adoption challenges throughout implementation
Required Qualifications
• 10+ years of experience in organizational design, operating model transformation, enterprise transformation, or management consulting
• Proven experience leading product-oriented operating model initiatives within large enterprise environments
• Strong background supporting ERP modernization, enterprise applications transformation, or HR transformation programs
• Experience working within complex post-M&A organizations and matrixed enterprise structures
• Demonstrated success influencing executive stakeholders and driving enterprise-wide transformation initiatives
• Strong understanding of product operating models, governance frameworks, agile delivery organizations, shared services, and enterprise technology functions
• Experience developing organizational frameworks, capability maps, governance structures, and transformation roadmaps
• Excellent communication, facilitation, and executive presentation skills
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience supporting Fortune 1000 or global enterprise organizations
• Background in management consulting or enterprise transformation advisory services
• Experience with enterprise platforms such as SAP, Oracle, Workday, or Microsoft Dynamics
• Familiarity with agile product management and scaled delivery frameworks
• Experience supporting HR operating model transformation and shared services modernization
• MBA or advanced degree preferred
