Position: Workday Financials Functional Analyst

Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced General Ledger Business Analyst (BA) to support financial systems, processes, and reporting within a Healthcare Payor environment. This role will partner closely with Finance, IT, and operational stakeholders to analyze, design, and optimize General Ledger (GL) processes, with a strong preference for candidates who have experience with Workday Financials.
The ideal candidate brings a blend of accounting knowledge, business analysis skills, and systems expertise to drive improvements, ensure data integrity, and support regulatory and reporting requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as a liaison between Finance/Accounting and IT teams to support GL-related initiatives and system enhancements
- Gather, document, and validate business and functional requirements for General Ledger processes
- Analyze current-state workflows and recommend improvements to increase efficiency, accuracy, and compliance
- Support implementation, configuration, and optimization of financial systems, especially Workday Financials (GL module)
- Assist with month-end and year-end close process improvements and automation opportunities
- Ensure accurate financial data mapping, chart of accounts alignment, and integration flows between systems
- Support audit readiness, compliance, and regulatory reporting requirements in a healthcare payor setting
- Create and maintain process documentation, data flow diagrams, and user guides
- Partner with reporting teams to support financial reporting, reconciliations, and data validation
- Participate in testing (UAT), defect resolution, and system upgrades or enhancements
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Information Systems, or related field
- 5–10+ years of experience as a Business Analyst or Financial Systems Analyst
- Strong understanding of General Ledger accounting processes (journal entries, reconciliations, close cycle)
- Hands-on experience with Workday Financials (General Ledger module strongly preferred)
- Experience working in a Healthcare Payor environment (e.g., insurance, managed care, health plans)
- Proven experience gathering and documenting business requirements and translating them into functional specifications
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
- Experience with financial systems and ERP platforms
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with system implementations, upgrades, or transformations
- Knowledge of healthcare-specific financial processes (e.g., claims, premiums, capitation, regulatory reporting)
