Financial Reporting Specialist
Position Summary
Our client is seeking a highly analytical and detail-oriented Financial Reporting Specialist to support financial planning, reporting, budgeting, and performance analysis across the organization. This role will serve as a key business partner to Finance, Accounting, Operations, and Executive Leadership by transforming financial data into meaningful insights, developing executive-level dashboards, and enhancing reporting capabilities across multiple business systems.
The ideal candidate brings a strong background in financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, and data visualization. This individual will be comfortable working across multiple platforms, reconciling data, identifying trends, and presenting actionable insights that support strategic decision-making.
Financial Reporting & Analysis:
Review and interpret budgets, forecasts, actual results, and financial performance metrics to identify trends, variances, and business insights.
Prepare and maintain monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting packages for leadership and key stakeholders.
Perform budget-to-actual, forecast-to-actual, and historical trend analyses, providing clear explanations of financial performance.
Develop meaningful reporting views that support revenue, expense, operational, and program performance analysis.
Provide actionable recommendations to leadership based on financial and operational data.
Dashboard Development & Data Visualization
Design and maintain executive-level dashboards, scorecards, and KPI reporting tools.
Create customized financial reports that improve visibility into organizational performance and key business drivers.
Develop automated and repeatable reporting solutions that increase efficiency and reduce manual reporting efforts.
Translate complex financial information into user-friendly reports for both financial and non-financial stakeholders.
Continuously enhance reporting structures, dashboard designs, and data presentation methods.
Budgeting, Forecasting & Systems Reconciliation
Support annual budgeting, forecasting, and long-range planning processes.
Reconcile and validate data across multiple financial, operational, and reporting systems.
Investigate discrepancies, identify root causes, and implement solutions to improve accuracy and consistency.
Monitor financial performance indicators and proactively identify risks, trends, and opportunities.
Support scenario planning and ad hoc financial analysis to assist management decision-making.
Required Experience (Must Haves)
- Strong experience in financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, and financial data interpretation.
- Hands-on experience with several financial and operational systems, including experience with Sage Intacct, NetSuite, Fonteva Microsoft Dynamics 365, Workday Adaptive Planning, Martus, Oracle Cloud, or similar platforms.
- Proven experience building custom dashboards, KPI scorecards, management reports, and executive reporting packages.
- Advanced ability to identify trends, variances, and performance drivers within financial and operational data.
- Experience reconciling information across multiple systems and validating data integrity.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including Pivot Tables, XLOOKUP/VLOOKUP, Power Query, complex formulas, and financial modeling techniques.
- Ability to communicate complex financial information clearly to non-financial leaders and stakeholders.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently, prioritize multiple projects, and proactively recommend process improvements.
- Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills
