Workday HCM Technical Lead (Contract - 12 Months)

About the Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced Workday HCM Technical Lead to provide technical leadership and oversight for a complex Workday environment. This role will be responsible for Workday integrations, security, data architecture, system optimization, and platform support while partnering closely with HR and technology stakeholders.
The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience with Workday technical solutions, integration development, data governance, and enterprise system support within a large-scale organization.
Key Responsibilities
Workday Technical Leadership
- Serve as the primary technical expert and owner for Workday HCM.
- Partner with HR and business teams to design scalable data and integration solutions.
- Lead architecture discussions and recommend best practices for Workday system design.
- Manage system health, performance monitoring, and environment strategy across development, testing, and production.
- Evaluate and implement enhancements that support evolving business requirements.
Integrations & Technical Support
- Troubleshoot and resolve integration, security, and data-related issues.
- Support Workday integration technologies including EIB, Core Connectors, Workday Studio, and APIs.
- Collaborate with internal teams, vendors, and third-party support partners to maintain system stability.
- Monitor integration performance and ensure reliable processing of critical HR data.
- Serve as a senior escalation point for complex technical issues.
Release Management & Testing
- Lead integration testing efforts and validate data accuracy across connected systems.
- Support Workday biannual releases and other platform updates.
- Conduct impact assessments for new functionality, integrations, and security changes.
- Coordinate testing activities and ensure successful deployment of enhancements.
Security, Data & Governance
- Manage Workday security configuration, including role-based access and domain security policies.
- Oversee compliance, audit, and governance requirements related to HR data.
- Maintain integration documentation, data flows, and technical standards.
- Partner with HR and IT teams to ensure data consistency across enterprise applications.
- Support ongoing governance initiatives to improve data quality and system integrity.
Qualifications
Required Experience
- 5+ years supporting enterprise applications, ideally within HRIS or Human Capital Management environments.
- 3+ years of hands-on Workday HCM experience in a technical lead, senior analyst, or systems-focused role.
- Experience supporting post-implementation Workday environments.
Technical Skills
- Strong understanding of Workday integrations including EIB, Workday Studio, Core Connectors, and REST/SOAP APIs.
- Experience with data transformation technologies such as XML and XSLT.
- Knowledge of enterprise integration architecture and middleware platforms.
- Experience managing Workday security frameworks and user access controls.
- Familiarity with data governance best practices and compliance requirements.
- Ability to communicate complex technical concepts to business stakeholders.
Preferred
- Workday HCM Certification.
- Experience working with AMS providers or external Workday consulting partners.
- Experience leading technical Workday initiatives in large enterprise environments.
