Lucas James Talent Partners is teaming up with a Chicago-based client in the retirement funds space to identify an experienced HR Operations Manager. This is a highly visible role supporting a large, mission-driven organization serving hundreds of thousands of members nationwide.

The Opportunity
The HR Operations Manager will lead HR operations, HRIS administration, compliance governance, and process optimization across the HR function. This role partners closely with Payroll, Total Rewards, Labor & Policy, and HR leadership to drive efficiency, data integrity, and an exceptional employee experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Own HR operations governance, compliance, audits, and personnel file management
- Serve as the HRIS Subject Matter Expert (Workday required) – driving data integrity, reporting, automation, and system enhancements
- Lead HR operations projects, process improvements, and operational excellence initiatives
- Analyze HR metrics and dashboards to provide workforce insights
- Develop and mentor HR Operations team members
- Partner cross-functionally to ensure accurate employee data flow and timely transaction processing
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in HR, Business, or related field
- 6–8 years of progressive HR experience, including 4+ years in HR Operations / HRIS leadership
- Hands-on Workday experience is mandatory (UKG or SAP SuccessFactors also valued)
- Proven background in process improvement, compliance, and HR systems implementations
- Advanced proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, and reporting tools
