Job Summary
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Corporate Payroll Specialist to join our dynamic finance team. In this role, you will be responsible for managing payroll processes, ensuring compliance with employment and labor laws, and maintaining accurate payroll records. Responsibilities
- Process payroll accurately and efficiently using systems such as Workday, ADP, Paychex, UltiPro, Kronos, Ceridian, or other supported payroll platforms.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and tax regulations related to payroll processing and labor law adherence.
- Maintain detailed records of employee hours, wages, benefits administration, tax filings, and deductions through HRIS (Human Resources Information System) platforms.
- Reconcile payroll accounts regularly by performing account reconciliations, journal entries, and general ledger adjustments within accounting software like QuickBooks or PeopleSoft.
- Manage payroll tax filings and payments in accordance with government regulations; stay updated on changes in tax law affecting payroll processing.
- Collaborate with human resources to ensure accurate data entry for new hires, terminations, benefits enrollment, and labor law compliance.
- Support audits by preparing necessary documentation related to payroll transactions and financial reports.
- Assist in the administration of employee benefits programs and non-profit accounting procedures as needed.
- Analyze payroll data for discrepancies or errors; implement corrective actions promptly to maintain data integrity.
- Contribute to process improvements by leveraging technical accounting knowledge and analysis skills to streamline payroll workflows.
Requirements
- Proven experience working with payroll systems such as Workday, ADP, Paychex, UltiPro, Kronos, Ceridian or similar platforms.
- Strong understanding of employment law, labor law compliance, and payroll tax regulations across multiple jurisdictions.
- Solid background in accounting principles including double entry bookkeeping, journal entries, general ledger reconciliation, debits & credits.
- Proficiency in financial software such as QuickBooks or PeopleSoft; experience with governmental accounting is a plus.
- Excellent data entry skills with high accuracy; familiarity with 10-key typing is preferred.
- Knowledge of benefits administration processes and non-profit accounting practices is advantageous.
- Ability to analyze complex data sets using analysis skills to identify issues and recommend solutions.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail; ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
- Effective communication skills for collaborating across departments including human resources and finance teams.
