Responsibilities
- Process payroll accurately and efficiently using payroll software such as Workday, ADP, Paychex, or UltiPro, ensuring adherence to company policies and legal requirements
- Administer employee benefits programs, including health insurance, retirement plans, and other perks, providing support and guidance to staff on benefits-related inquiries
- Perform data entry and maintain detailed records of payroll transactions, deductions, taxes, and benefit enrollments
- Reconcile payroll accounts through general ledger accounting practices, ensuring accuracy in debits & credits and journal entries
- Manage accounts payable and receivable related to payroll and benefits expenses using accounting software such as QuickBooks or Ceridian
- Conduct account reconciliation tasks regularly to verify the accuracy of financial data related to payroll and benefits administration
- Assist with compliance reporting for tax authorities and government agencies, ensuring timely submission of required documentation
- Support HRIS systems integration (e.g., Kronos, PeopleSoft) for seamless payroll processing and employee data management
- Collaborate with the finance team on non-profit or governmental accounting procedures when applicable
- Maintain confidentiality of sensitive employee information while ensuring data security across all systems
Skills
- Proficiency in payroll management software including Workday, ADP, Paychex, Kronos, UltiPro, or PeopleSoft
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles such as double entry bookkeeping, general ledger reconciliation, debits & credits, journal entries, and bookkeeping practices
- Experience with benefits administration processes and HRIS systems integration
- Familiarity with tax regulations related to payroll taxes and reporting requirements
- Excellent analysis skills for financial data review and discrepancy resolution
- Ability to perform high-volume data entry with precision (10 key typing skills)
- Solid understanding of corporate accounting concepts including accounts payable/receivable and governmental accounting procedures
- Knowledge of non-profit accounting standards when applicable
- Strong communication skills to assist employees with benefits questions and payroll issues
- Attention to detail combined with organizational skills necessary for account reconciliation and financial analysis
