Implementation Project Manager III (Workday Time & Payroll)
Contract | Fully Remote | 12-Month Project | $70-78/hour
We're seeking an experienced Implementation Project Manager to lead a high-impact Workday U.S. Time & Payroll implementation. This is a hands-on, delivery-focused role where you'll own the project from early planning through go-live and post-launch support, working closely with cross-functional partners and external consultants.

What You'll Be Doing
- Lead the end-to-end implementation of Workday Time Tracking and Payroll for a U.S. workforce
- Own project planning, schedules, milestones, risks, issues, and communications
- Partner with HR, Payroll, Finance, IT, Security, and external Workday consultants
- Oversee system configuration, testing, cutover, deployment, and hypercare
- Ensure compliance with U.S. payroll regulations (federal, state, and local)
- Manage payroll-related integrations such as tax filing, benefits, banking, time clocks, and vendors
- Drive payroll parallel testing, UAT, and full end-to-end validation
- Provide clear status updates and insights to leadership to support decision-making
What We're Looking For
Required Experience
- 5–7+ years of project management experience with HR and/or Payroll systems
- Proven experience leading Workday Time Tracking and/or Payroll implementations
- Strong knowledge of U.S. payroll rules, taxes, and compliance requirements
- Experience managing large, complex payroll projects (10,000+ employees preferred)
- Excellent communication, coordination, and vendor management skills
Nice to Have
- PMP and/or Workday Pro certification
- Experience with ADP SmartCompliance or similar payroll integrations
