Job Description:

The Workday HCM Technical Specialist plays a pivotal role in supporting and optimizing Workday Human Capital Management (HCM) systems across five consortium universities in a single tenant. This position requires deep expertise in Workday functionality and reporting. The specialist is responsible for enhancing HR processes through effective use of Workday tools and capabilities.

Specific Roles and Duties for this position:

Act as the subject matter expert for designated Workday HCM modules, including Core HR, Benefits, Talent, Academic, Recruiting, and more.
Partner with HR Business Units to gather requirements, provide consultative guidance, and deliver impact analyses.
Stay current on Workday updates and new features, identifying opportunities for process improvement and system optimization.
Configure, test, validate, and implement changes to business processes and system configurations within Workday.
Support testing efforts for integrations, security roles, and annual HR events.
Maintain master data elements such as Job Profiles, Job Families, Roles, Custom Organizations, Positions, and Locations.
Serve as a Tier 2 and Tier 3 escalation point for complex system issues.
Collaborate with the MD Connect team to share knowledge and best practices.
Deliver training sessions on new Workday functionality to HR stakeholders.
Facilitate governance meetings across five institutions within a single Workday tenant.

Required Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:

Strong understanding of HR operations and employee data management.
Experience in higher education, particularly with academic modules like Period Activity Pay.
Excellent communication skills for engaging with cross-functional teams and non-technical stakeholders.
Ability to gather and assess customer needs to deliver effective solutions.
High attention to detail and strong documentation capabilities.
Proven ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Analytical mindset with problem-solving skills and a user-centric approach to issue resolution.
Ability to translate technical concepts into accessible language for business users.
Collaborative spirit to work across teams including Integration, Reporting, Finance, and HCM.
Deep technical knowledge of Workday Academic modules and their integration points with other HCM and Finance modules.
Familiarity with Adobe Contracts and other HCM modules to support cross- functional coverage.
Experience with EIB development and Workday report writing.
Experience with Workday security.
