Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Accounts Payable Specialist to join our dynamic finance team. Responsibilities
- Process and verify all incoming invoices using accounting software such as Workday, SAP, or QuickBooks, ensuring accuracy and compliance with GAAP standards.
- Perform account reconciliations and resolve discrepancies related to accounts payable transactions promptly.
- Prepare and record journal entries for payments, accruals, and adjustments while maintaining detailed documentation for audit purposes.
- Manage vendor onboarding, updates, and communications to ensure smooth payment cycles and strong professional relationships.
- Ensure adherence to SOX compliance controls by documenting processes and conducting regular audits of payable transactions.
- Collaborate with procurement, finance, human resources, and other departments to facilitate seamless data entry and processing of payments.
- Support month-end closing activities by reconciling general ledger accounts related to accounts payable and assisting with financial analysis as needed.
Requirements
- Proven experience with accounting software such as Workday, Paychex, QuickBooks, Sage, or PeopleSoft is essential.
- Strong understanding of GAAP principles, double entry bookkeeping, and financial concepts related to accounts payable.
- Familiarity with payroll management systems like ADP or Kronos and benefits administration processes is a plus.
- Knowledge of SOX compliance requirements for internal controls over financial reporting.
- Excellent data entry skills with high accuracy (10 key typing proficiency preferred).
- Ability to perform account reconciliation, journal entries, and general ledger reconciliation efficiently.
- Experience in public accounting or governmental accounting is advantageous but not required.
