We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Payroll Specialist to join our finance and human resources team. Responsibilities
- Process payroll accurately and efficiently using systems such as Workday, ADP, Paychex, or UltiPro, ensuring adherence to company policies and legal requirements
- Reconcile payroll data through general ledger accounting, account reconciliation, and analysis of payroll reports
- Maintain detailed records of employee hours, benefits, tax information, and deductions for compliance and audit purposes
- Manage benefits administration tasks including enrollments, changes, and terminations in collaboration with HRIS systems
- Perform data entry with precision using accounting software like QuickBooks or other financial tools to update employee records and payroll transactions
- Conduct journal entries related to payroll expenses, debits & credits, and general ledger reconciliation
- Collaborate with HR and finance teams to ensure accurate accounts payable/receivable processing and support governmental or non-profit accounting requirements
- Assist with tax filings, year-end reporting, and audit preparations related to payroll activities
- Support accounts payable processes by verifying invoices and processing payments related to employee benefits or vendor services
- Utilize analysis skills to identify discrepancies or errors in payroll data and implement corrective actions promptly
Experience
- Proven experience managing payroll functions within a corporate or non-profit environment using systems such as Workday, Kronos, Ceridian, or PeopleSoft
- Strong knowledge of payroll management principles combined with a solid understanding of accounting concepts like double entry bookkeeping, journal entries, general ledger accounting, debits & credits
- Familiarity with HRIS platforms for benefits administration and employee data management
- Experience working with multiple financial software applications including QuickBooks and other relevant tools for bookkeeping and financial analysis
- Demonstrated ability to perform account reconciliation accurately while maintaining confidentiality of sensitive information
- Excellent data entry skills with high accuracy (10 key typing proficiency) coupled with attention to detail in financial documentation
- Knowledge of tax regulations related to payroll processing and governmental reporting requirements is highly desirable
