Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Payroll Specialist to manage and process payroll functions within our organization. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of payroll management, accounting software, and HRIS systems. This role involves ensuring accurate payroll processing, benefits administration, and compliance with applicable regulations. The Payroll Specialist will play a key part in maintaining financial accuracy and supporting human resources functions across various departments.
Responsibilities
- Process payroll using systems such as Workday, Paychex, ADP, Kronos, UltiPro, PeopleSoft, or Ceridian with precision and timeliness
- Manage data entry related to employee hours, wages, deductions, and benefits
- Reconcile payroll accounts and perform general ledger reconciliation to ensure accuracy
- Prepare journal entries related to payroll transactions and maintain detailed records for audit purposes
- Administer employee benefits programs including benefits enrollment and changes
- Handle accounts payable and receivable related to payroll expenses
- Ensure compliance with tax regulations and prepare necessary filings
- Assist with non-profit accounting or governmental accounting as needed
- Support HRIS data management and updates for employee information
- Perform analysis of payroll data to identify discrepancies or irregularities
- Maintain knowledge of financial concepts relevant to payroll processing and accounting practices
Skills
- Proficiency with payroll management software such as Workday, Paychex, ADP, Kronos, UltiPro, or Ceridian
- Experience with accounting software including QuickBooks and other financial tools
- Strong understanding of corporate accounting principles including general ledger accounting, double entry bookkeeping, debits & credits, and journal entries
- Knowledge of tax regulations related to payroll processing and benefits administration
- Familiarity with HRIS systems and data entry procedures
- Excellent analysis skills for troubleshooting discrepancies in payroll data
- Ability to perform account reconciliation accurately using 10 key typing skills
- Experience with governmental or non-profit accounting is a plus
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail in bookkeeping and financial analysis
- Effective communication skills to collaborate with HR teams and external vendors involved in payroll processing
Pay: $27.27 - $32.85 per hour
