We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Entry Level Accounting Assistant/Payable Assistant to join our dynamic finance team. Responsibilities
- Assist with processing accounts payable transactions using accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage, or Workday
- Verify invoice details and ensure proper documentation aligns with company policies and GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles)
- Perform data entry for financial transactions, maintaining accurate records of debits & credits and journal entries
- Reconcile accounts payable and perform general ledger reconciliations to ensure data accuracy
- Support month-end closing activities by preparing reports and assisting with account analysis tasks
- Help maintain compliance with SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley Act) controls and internal audit procedures
- Collaborate with the human resources team on benefits administration and payroll management using systems like ADP, UltiPro, or Ceridian
Skills
- Strong understanding of basic accounting concepts such as double entry bookkeeping, debits & credits, and journal entries
- Experience working with accounting software including QuickBooks, Sage, Workday, Paychex, or similar platforms
- Familiarity with financial concepts related to accounts payable, receivable, general ledger accounting, and account reconciliation
- Knowledge of payroll management systems such as ADP or UltiPro is a plus
- Excellent data entry skills with high accuracy (10 key typing proficiency preferred)
- Ability to analyze financial data critically and perform detailed account analysis
- Knowledge of governmental or non-profit accounting practices is advantageous
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively in a fast-paced environment
